A Gift From My Cat And An Anxiety Attack

Our furbabies definitely make our lives very interesting! Sometimes we wonder what we would do without them, at other times we want to strangle them.

I am ready to strangle my cat Flicker!

Last night, as usual, I propped myself up in bed listening to an audiobook and playing games on my IPad. When I was ready to go to sleep, I turned the light off and was using my phone light to arrange my pillows. I have to prop myself up on pillows to sleep because of my back.

I moved one of the pillows and saw something under it. In the semi-dark, it looked like it could have been a snake or a lizard. Snakes and lizards terrify me! I screamed and threw the pillow back down, turned on the light and woke my partner to see what it was.

It was a skink!

It looks like a snake with legs. This is the closest picture I could find that it looked like with the glimpse I got. After chasing it a bit, it wasA Gift From My Cat And An Anxiety Attack by Claudia McNeely caught and put outside. Our cat, Flicker, had to have been the one to bring it in. If it had been one of the dogs, it would have been dead.

I have had a talk with Flicker and explained to him that I do not want any more animals put in my bed. He has also been known to bring live birds into the house and let them go. I am willing to bet that he brought in mice that we never knew about.

Of course, my heart was racing

I knew there was no point in trying to sleep after that. I kept thinking that there might be another one. I was also freaking out that I had been laying on it for a couple of hours without knowing it was there

I decided to play another game while I was waiting to calm down, but instead of calming down, the anxiety attack got worse and worse. I did the Energetic Clearing Technique trying to calm myself. It helped only a little. I did emotional healing on myself, that helped a little more, but every time there was the slightest movement by the pets on the bed, I would panic again.

I finally fell asleep from exhaustion at 6 am. Every time one of the animals moved or there was a sound in the house, I woke up in a panic. Rain started about 7, with the thunder causing more panic attacks. I finally dozed off and slept for a couple of hours straight.

I woke up with the anxiety attack still full blown. My adrenals are shot after taking care of Samantha for 22 years, so if something sets of my fight or flight response, it is very difficult for me to calm down. Luckily I was able to get an appointment with my doctor and some medication to calm me down again. After taking a dose, I am beginning to calm down some.

Shamanically animals always have a message

Now I am trying to figure out what the message was from this skink. There is no information on Skink as an animal totem. I am mainly finding information about lizards, so I will have to research lizard.

This information will be coming from Animal-Speak by Ted Andrews.

Lizard as an animal totem can indicate that intuition and psychic perception is about to be activated more strongly. Since lizards have keen vision, I would say that this would be specifically vision being enhanced.

It also represents dreamtime. The night before the skink appeared, I had a dream about ripping the heads off of a bunch of snakes at one time with a grabber of some sort and putting the heads in a sack. I then used the grabber to tear the rest of the bodies in pieces and adding them to the sack. Later when I started emptying the sack, I had to be careful not to get bitten by the heads. In dreams, snakes represent change. So I am ripping the heads off of change and trying not to be bitten by the change. Hmm.

Because a lizard will detach part of its tail when frightened, it is teaching detachment. It will help to be detached for survival. It also helps with objective detachment.

That does not help me understand the message at all! If anyone can figure this out please share your information in the comment box below. I would much appreciate the help!
