When we die, our soul leaves our body. Many times, these souls become stuck on the earth plane for many reasons. They may choose to stay with their family, the place they died or another place that is important to them.
Our Christian upbringing has taught us that when we die there will be streets of gold, pearly gates and Angels with harps. When a soul leaves the body, it is still in the same place, just another dimension. These souls can become confused and not know what to do next.
In order for these souls to survive here they must 'attach' to a human so they can receive energy. This can cause many problems for the human host, including addictions, phobias, pain or dis-ease.
These souls can stay attached to their human host for many lifetimes causing problems in each lifetime if they are not removed.
It is important to remove these attached spirits using a technique known as Spirit Depossession, Entity Removal, Spirit Releasment or Ghost Busting.

There are many techniques for removing attached or earthbound spirits. Different techniques are used in different situations. It is best that the healer performing the entity removal be experienced to prevent the spirit from attaching even stronger to the person or attaching to the healer.
Many healers send the released spirit to 'The Light'. I
have found that not all entities or earthbound spirits are from the Light. Sending these beings to the Light is torture to them and very painful. This is a very cruel thing to do to the spirit. It is best to send the being to its 'next level of development.' We
don't know where the best place is for the entity to be sent, so by sending it to it's next level of development, it goes where it it meant to go.
Battling Spirits
Some entities do not want to leave. They may be quite comfortable with their host, they may have been attached to them for many lifetimes or they may be afraid to leave. There are times when it is necessary to actually battle with a spirit to convince it that it has to leave. This is not something that an inexperienced healer should attempt.
